Hemming Tape

I found something that I had never used before!  I bought some curtain panels from Ikea back in June for my bedroom.  We always had the roll shades and they really don't do much for a room!  The curtains are an off white linen.  I love linen!  When I bought them I knew I would have to cut them and hem them.  A friend told me to use this tape that once ironed will hold the hem.  I bought some at Walmart, but to my surprise when I opened the package of curtains, there was some in there!  That is the easy part.  I don't like cutting things like curtains, where you have to do two of them.  I have a really hard time getting them the same length.  I cut them at 65" and then wanted to fold over 2" and then fold another 2" to hem them.  The hardest part was stretching them to make sure they were the same.  I am very proud of how they came out!

All I had to do was un-role the tape and put it between the layers and iron away!

Here I just ironed the hem shut and was ironing the whole curtain before I hung them.

Don't they look so wonderful!  They are just a tad uneven, but for me that is perfect!   Nice and airy!  We have just opened the windows again today and I'm looking forward to having them blowing in the breeze tonight!

  1. I love IKEA curtains all except for the hemming part...I wish they made some that were pre-hemmed. I guess that's why they are so affordable...You did a great job. I think the hemming tape is the best thing ever invented! I use it all the time. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  2. Hemming tape does make things so easy. I did not know that the curtains from Ikea were unhemmed. I plan on stopping by Ikea in Atlanta when we visit. I might just pick some up!
